Plein Air” is a French term that means literally "in the open air”.
That is, painting outdoors,
right from the best source:
nature & life itself

“Chasing a Sunset”

Oil on canvas, 2023

Walking the mountains, the valleys, the corners of a colonial town, and using my home-made easels to grasp on paper or canvas whatever kidnaps my eyes and obsesses my mind.

  • One day, humanity decided to put pigments inside tubes. This collided with the color explorations and interest of Impressionist artists.

It was then easier to travel around and bring paints and brushes with you. Painting landscapes outside the studio and inside nature became an adventure and also a statement. No longer merely the exalted master of Renaissance lore, the artist emerged as a creative laboring hand and a dedicated craftsperson.
